I am happy to invite you to Dutch Design Week 2017! You can find my work at the Dutch Invertuals exhibit ‘Fundamentals’, at NulZes and the result of an intensive course with the second year students of iArts Maastricht will be shown as part of Bio Art Laboratories at Veemgebouw.
Fuutlaan 12b, EDHV Studio
45 Invertuals reveal more than 800 objects that normally remain hidden in the archives of their studios. They offer a glimpse into their private collections, resulting in a distinct reflection of their personal identities. Sharing these inspirational artifacts allows the visitors to experience various views on form, material, and beauty.
For this exhibition, the designers take their personal collections and identities as a starting point to create a container that manifests their ‘Fundamentals’. These individually made products offer comprehensive insights into their various design practices, reflecting diverse personal visions.

As Above, So Below

As Above, So Below is a first collaboration between Kirstie van Noort and Xandra van der Eijk. Finding common ground in conceptual and material based design, the designers show their individual strengths in this speculative project. Whereas Kirstie emphasizes on experimenting with materials collected from the environment, Xandra finds a starting point in scientific research. Through design, the duo has shaped a visionary projection into the future, that is perhaps closer than one would expect.

iArts Year II
Bio Art Laboratories, Veemgebouw
Anima Factura is a video installation created by second-year students of Interdisciplinary Arts (iArts) Maastricht under the guidance of guest teachers Xandra van der Eijk and Roos Meerman. The project connects artistic research and debate on science in society. It is a collaborative effort to articulate issues related to Synthetic Biology.
The first phase of this installation was exhibited at the SynCity Arts & Science festival which was facilitated and organized by Wageningen University’s Systems and Synthetic Biology (5-6 October), in collaboration with LIS Consult and Radboud University’s Institute for Science in Society Nijmegen (ISiS). BioArt Laboratories invited iArts Maastricht to develop and elaborate Anima Factura for the Dutch Design Week. This phase is based on the experiences and feedback of the scientific audience at the SynCity Festival.
