Dutch Design Week 2015

Art, Design, Exhibition October 30, 2015

During Dutch Design Week 2015 I presented a new research into the applicability of algae and seaweed in textiles, on which I collaborated with textile designer Nienke Hoogvliet. Together we were granted funding by the Dutch Creative Industries Fund for this project. I harvested over twenty different species of seaweed and with this harvest a wide color palette came to life, mirroring the colors of the Dutch coastal area.

At the same location, water enthusiast and ceramist Lotte de Raadt showed her new work Colored Drops. Lotte’s collection contains products that are linked to drinking tap water. With Colored Drop Lotte researched a new method to treat ceramics with glazing. The glazing acts like water – always unique and an inspiration for new patterns.
